A large-scale dance performance presented at the opening ceremony of UNESCO’s 45th World Heritage Committee session in Riyadh, commissioned by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, this work traced the evolution of civilizations across the Arabian Peninsula—from the Neolithic era through successive historical periods.
As head costume designer, Nouf Mallawi designed and managed the production costumes for the entire opening ceremony performance. She developed a visual language that honored ancient cultural heritage while supporting the emotional and kinetic flow of the dancers. Through layered textures, symbolic silhouettes, and movement-aware construction, the costumes functioned as a living archive—embodying continuity, memory, and the richness of the region’s collective identity.
