About

Nouf Mallawi is a Saudi costume designer and cultural practitioner based in Riyadh. She holds a BA in Fashion and Textile Design and an MA in Costume Design for Performance from London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.

Rooted in a background in dance, her practice approaches costume as a language of embodiment—using the moving body to explore emotion, identity, and meaning. Working within performance and cultural production, Nouf develops costume-led works in which garments function as narrative structure, shaping how stories are experienced rather than simply how they appear.

Her work investigates the relationship between psychology, spatial dynamics, and visual form, and how inner experience is translated into external reality. Engaging with themes of memory, national symbolism, and collective identity, she positions costume as both a creative and conceptual tool—one that operates not only aesthetically, but as a method of authorship within performance.
